$200.00

Next crop available Winter 2025

Seedling Information.

  • Two year old Douglas fir seedlings ready to plant out in the field, or pot up - averaging 20-30 cm tall.

  • For more information on the Douglas firs check out the Tree library.

For Growers.

  • Avoid fertilising in the first few months after planting as this can burn seedlings.

  • Douglas firs are slow growing but speed up once established.

  • Keep weeds down around the tree for at least the first year and water in well after planting and regularly if conditions are hot and dry.

  • Douglas Firs like gentle slopes or hilly terrain with good drainage and hate wet feet. Avoid boggy or very clayey soils in landscape depressions or drainage lines. They thrive on acidic soils and will tolerate lightly alkaline soil.

  • Trees are frost tolerant down to -20 ◦C and grow best with some winter frost. They do not like long periods of hot or dry weather. A sheltered spot or cold site is best.

  • Trees will need some light pruning to maintain a dense Christmas tree shape.

How are the seedlings grown and shipped?

  • Radiata pine seedlings are ready for dispatch the first winter after sowing. Fir and Spruce seedlings are slower growing and require four or more seasons.

  •  Upon dispatch, seedlings are removed from trays and are packed into waxed boxes.

  • We recommend seedlings are planted directly out field or potted up as soon as possible upon arrival.  A 140mm pot is the ideal size to hold seedlings for an additional year.

What is the process for my seedling pre-order?

  • The Pre-order window allows us to plan ahead and care for your trees in the nursery.

  • To cover the cost of raising the seedlings, we ask for a 40% deposit at the time the pre-order is placed.

  • The amount charged at the checkout for the pre-order is the 40% deposit and shipping cost.

  • Once seedlings are ready for dispatch, our team will send a manual invoice for the remaining payment. Payment must be received in full before orders are sent.

  • Please ensure your shipping and contact details are correct at the time of your pre-order checkout as shipping labels and the final invoice are generated based on this information.

  • Buyers accept full responsibility for their order upon dispatch.

  • Our team will contact customers with wholesale orders for delivery options, all other orders will be sent via AusPost as per details selected during checkout.
