• Stone pines are hardy, fast growing, heat and drought tolerant. These trees are native to the Mediterranean region and have grey-green needles when young, maturing to longer dark green needles. The trees grow in a classic conical pine shape, changing gradually to an umbrella shape with clear stem after age 12.

Tree sizes.

70mm tubestock - plants 30-40cm tall and 1-1.5 years old

140 mm - plants 40-50cm tall and 1.5-2.5 years old

200mm - plants 50-70cm tall and 2.5-3.5 years old

300mm - plants 70-100cm tall and 3.5-5 years old

For Growers.

• Plant out directly in the field in cool conditions and water in well.

• Plant on gentle slopes or hilly terrain with good drainage, they do not like wet feet.

• Frost tolerant down to -7 degrees celsius, prefers warmer/coastal climates but will grow inland.

• Water young plants regularly until established. Once stablished requires little water or fertiliser.

• Keep weeds down around the tree for at least the first two years until established.
