Seedling Information.
Colorado blue spruce seedlings are slow maturing, taking at least two years to reach a size around 10 - 15 cm tall, ready to plant out in the field or pot up.
A self shaping, luscious blue colour perfect for Christmas trees and ornamental gardens.
For more information on the Colorado blue spruce check out the tree library.
Growers:
Avoid fertilising in the first few months after planting as this can burn seedlings.
Water young trees regularly to optimise growth and help them adapt to their new climate.
Best planted on gentle slopes or hilly terrain with good drainage as they hate wet feet.
Avoid boggy or very clayey soils in landscape depressions or drainage lines. They thrive on acidic soils and will tolerate lightly alkaline soil.
Trees are frost tolerant down to -30◦C but do not like long periods of hot or dry weather. A sheltered spot or cold site is best.
Trees do not need pruning to maintain Christmas tree shape.
These trees will be a Christmas tree crop in 6-8 years from planting out.

How are the seedlings grown and shipped?
Radiata pine seedlings are ready for dispatch the first winter after sowing. Fir and Spruce seedlings are slower growing and require four or more seasons.
Upon dispatch, seedlings are removed from trays and are packed into waxed boxes.
We recommend seedlings are planted directly out field or potted up as soon as possible upon arrival. A 140mm pot is the ideal size to hold seedlings for an additional year.
