Norfolk Island pine (Araucaria heterophylla)

from $30.00

The norfolk pine is native to Norfolk island - a close relative of the hoop pine and bunya pines that are found on the East coast of Australia. This coastal tree grows well on sand or loamy soils and can tolerate high levels of salt as well as drought conditions. It is also midly frost tolerant down to around -2 degrees Celsius when young and as low as - 5 degrees Celsius when mature. The tree is quite adaptable but only reaches its towering potential heights of 40+m right on the coast, growing shorter and denser inland.
