All our seedings are sent as plug stock without containers for more efficient transport. Please plant directly out into the field or pot up on arrival. 140mm pots are the ideal size to pot these seedlings into and hold in for up to 1 year.

Nordmann Fir seedlings ready to plant out in the field or pot up - averaging 10-15cm tall. The nordmann fir is Europe’s most popular Christmas tree variety. A hardy and adaptable tree with slow to medium growth speed. Foliage is a glossy dark green colour and soft to the touch, and the tree displays well for weeks to months after cutting.

Growers:

Plant out directly in the field in cool conditions or pot up and grow on for 1-2 years to get your trees ahead of the weeds and give them time to adapt to your climate. Avoid fertilising in the first few months after planting as this can burn seedlings. Nordmann fir are slow growers but very hardy once established. They will need little additional watering or fertiliser but will grow faster if kept moist throughout the year. Keep weeds down around the tree for at least the first 2 years and water in well after planting until established. Firs like gentle slopes or hilly terrain with good drainage - ideally with a moderate to slightly acidic soil. Expect a Christmas tree crop in 7-9 years from planting out in the field.
